There’s not a lot of Tumblr activity going on here lately because we haven’t been doing a lot of gardening. We got back from Christmas and New Year’s last Thursday, and finally made it to the garden on Sunday afternoon.
The golden beets are looking fantastic—square foot gardening agrees with them—and the mustard and chard are glossy and gigantic. Most everything else, however, continues to languish. Too much rain, a cold snap… who knows.
We’re starting to talk about building a taller raised bed for root veggies, and I have hops on my mind (and in my Christmas stocking). Stew and beer for everybody…
P.S. Happy 84th birthday to my grandfather, who’s spent the last several years locked in a battle against tomato-nibbling squirrels. If I have any sort of green thumb at all, it comes from him and my grandmother.
