Early October Garden Update (No Photos)
This morning we mixed up more soil and filled our final 2 boxes. I made 1” indentations in the center of each and planted 3 zucchini seeds here, 3 there. Fingers are now crossed.
The garden looks great. Almost everything we sowed is growing, with the beans in the lead. We took a long moment to reflect on how much we’ve learned, built, harvested, destroyed and rebuilt all in under a year. (Our garden’s official birthday being Halloween.)
It feels good to embark on a large project and not only complete it, but see it into a second season.
We left at noon, the sweat rolling down our necks, smelling lightly (okay, maybe not so lightly) of steer manure. The people at our preferred burger shack must wonder why we’re always so dirty and foul when we show up to eat there.
Hard-earned meals always taste the best.
